Trunk Imbalance
This exercise very quickly gives you an indication of any imbalances of the trunk muscles. Therefore would be excellent for Golfers, etc; who bias one side of their body as they swing their club. So, although it’s common for people to be tighter on one side of their body as a result of left or right ‘handedness.’ Extreme tightness on one side could be a precursor to injury. So this little beauty would help to re-balance the Spine.

Groin/Hip Tightness
Note how I press one side of my Pelvis’ ‘sitting bones’ into the floor before I reach for my little toe. This helps open up the Groin muscles and provide a bit of an opening stretch for tight hamstring and adductor muscles. As well as gently easing into the deeper muscles of the Groin.
TOP TIPS
- Just about covered most of this in the video. However, I alway recommend that when performing this exercise you imagine your Spine is a plastic strip with beads evenly stretched across it’s length. As the forward stretch is executed you visualise the beads being pulled apart as the plastic strip lengthens.
- As with any exercise that includes Spinal Rotation and Flexion, go slowly.
