About

Physically weak and under-confident as a child who constantly suffered from Chronic Tonsillitis followed by Glandular Fever.  This kept recurring over my early years, until I had my tonsils removed at 23 years of age.

Not a great start. My choice was,  curl–up into a ball or persevere. Experience taught me perseverance wins. If I can reach  high levels of fitness after illness and injuries, including a major hip-resurfacing operation, so can you.

My own personal development stemmed from exposure to outstanding mentors in the following organisations: the RAF Mountain Rescue ‘system’; The RAF Physical Education Branch and The Joint Service Mountain Training brotherhood.  Additionally, the World class tutors at Manchester Metropolitan and Brunel University gave me the research tools to critically evaluate my ‘in the trenches’ experience through the prism of the scientific method.
